What purpose does your assessment tool serve?	IC³ is a global, validated, standards-based training and certification program for basic computing and Internet literacy. It provides specific guidelines for the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks and the Internet. IC³ is a performance-based, entry-level technology assessment for teachers, students and administrators. An independent review has found that IC³ standards are aligned with ISTE NETS-S and NETS-T.

How long has this assessment tool been in use within your organization?	Just this year 2003-2004 (recommended not required).
Who is the audience for this assessment tool?	Students, Teachers and Administrators.
What technology is used? (Please indicate hardware, software, and networking requirements)	The IC³ exams can be administered via PCs in any proctored computer lab. The testing software is proprietary and can be downloaded at no cost from the Certiport website.
Approximately how many people are currently using this system?	K-12 Students (current year) Please indicate grade level(s):______   K-12 Teachers   Teacher education students   Teacher education faculty   Other Just introduced and recommended, therefore, no data has been collected. Approximately 10% of Louisiana 's teachers have taken the test. The upcoming school year 2004-05, will be the first year in which the new course, Introduction to Business Computer Applications, which is tied to the exam will be offered.
To use the tool effectively, what else should the school have in place?	The school needs to be an authorized testing center.
If you haven't already addressed it, how does your tool help students or teachers demonstrate that they are meeting standards?	IC³ is specifically designed to provide an outcomes-based assessment or certification of student and teacher knowledge of and proficiency with basic Internet and computing concepts and skills.
What questions would you like participants to address?	Are you interested in deploying an outcomes-based student assessment or certification program that is aligned with NETS, the value of which can be transferred via a digital transcript to institutions of higher learning or employment opportunities? (Yes/No) At what point in a student's progression should he/she demonstrate basic Internet and computing knowledge and skills? At what point in a teacher's professional progression should he/she be required to demonstrate proficiency with basic Internet and computing knowledge and skills?
