What purpose does your assessment tool serve?

The TI-Navigator system allows the teacher get immediate feedback from every student, know exactly who in your classroom understands a concept - and who needs a little extra help. The transfer of information is controlled by the teacher’s computer and allows for easy assessment of students understanding. TI-Navigator has been built to be appropriate across a range of subject areas. It is a multi-disciplinary tool.

What professional development (for students or assessors) is required to use the tool?

While professional development is not required to use this tool. The TI-Navigator system does have professional development available. Our T3 organization has created a 2-3 day institute on using TI-Navigator effectively.

To use the tool effectively, what else should the school have in place?

We've found that having a team of teacher using new technology has been an effective way of adopting the TI-navigator system. The school will need to have the TI handhelds available for use with the system.

If you haven't already addressed it, how does your tool help students or teachers demonstrate that they are meeting standards?

When the teacher collects the student results they have an electronic copy of EVERY question the student answered, not just a total grade. It makes it simpler to review how a student is performing.

What questions would you like participants to address?

I found that this assessment tool would easily allow teachers to check their students understanding of concepts.
